NETFLIX REVIEW - THE FALL OF THE HOUSE OF USHER
I have always been a fan of Edgar Allen Poe’s writing since elementary school. I’m a fan when classics get retold in a modern way while still honoring the grit they were created. That’s why when I saw the trailer for The Fall of the House of Usher.
With my busy schedule I rarely have time to sit down and enjoy a good series.
AGING PARENTS- PART 1
Let me first begin with gratitude to be in the position to have aging parents. I honestly don’t know if we are ever prepared to see our parents age - where the roles shift, and they need and depend on us ( their children) for assistance in their daily lives, business, and medical decisions.
LIKING YHORSELF
I have found that it is in our best interest to always and consistently be aware when we are not in sync with being our best self. That is being our most productive in our personal and professional lives.
WELLNESS OVERLOAD
From magazines, newspapers, or scrolling Instagram…we are met with information, Influencers, as well as advice on the full-proof way to live, what to eat and take to have the healthiest existence.
QUICK TRIPS = MENTAL RESETS
I’m a firm believer that quick trips will do a total reset for our mental health. These quick trips don’t have to be extravagant and you don’t even need to travel. You can make your current environment a mini spa, do a staycation, or if you like travel. How you totally reset mentally within a couple days is the most important. My example I’ll be discussing is my recent quick trip to Paris.
FINANCE SPOTLIGHT: SAVINGS PT.2
Savings from your paycheck. Hearing this statement might make you laugh out loud but it’s possible! First let’s shift our mindset that we can’t save from our paycheck.
FINANCE SPOTLIGHT: START SAVING
I get it’s the last thing anyone wants to hear or think is…that they need, or should be saving. More so during a recession. Our mindset is that we literally need every dollar to meet the higher prices for our daily needs.
FITNESS SPOTLIGHT: ‘HOT GIRL WALK’
So I’m not one for following Tik Tok or even Tik Tok Trends. One trend that I just kept hearing and piqued my interest was the “Hot Girl Walk.’ This is one trend that I’m glad I found.
JORDAN AIR 3 CEMENT
I am not going to feign being a sport fan, or even watching Michael Jordan regularly when growing up, but I do admit the reason for my love affair with Jordan is due to the timeless cool factor and comfort. My first introduction to Jordan’s was when I was in middle school, and this article of GQ Magazine has Kid Cudi modeling, and he was wearing a high top sneaker I have never seen before.
BOOK SPOTLIGHT: FROM BEAUTY TO BUSINESS
I’m so happy to be doing this review!! We initially interviewed Kiyah at the height of the pandemic in 2020. She was kind and engaging.
Then when I got the email to review the book I was so excited! The title is ‘From Beauty to Business’. Kiyah knocked it out of the park!
DEVIL’S IN THE DETAILS: A SARTORIAL PROJECT
For those who know me, there are few things I can talk endlessly about: food, history, and tailoring. The knowledge of the latter subject stems from many many years of exposure. My father who wears suits everyday due to his profession would always talk to me about the importance of a suit.
EVENT SPOTLIGHT: REMY MARTIN SPONSORING NET-A-PORTER X LAQUAN SMITH
On March 24th, 2022 ahead of Oscar weekend at Olivetta in West Hollywood, CA; Net-A-Porter was celebrating the launch of LaQuan Smith’s Spring/Summer ‘22 Collection. This beautiful event came to life through Remy Martin…
BOOK SPOTLIGHT: BLACK IVY: A REVOLT IN STYLE
Anyone that knows me, knows that I am a huge classic menswear enthusiast. The admixture of history, tradition, and timeless style has always infatuated me since I was a child seeing my father dress for work. As a man of color that is both Latino and Black, appearances and how the world views me has always been a topic of discussion between my parents and even myself.
SELF-BELIEF!
Believing in You. Staying true to you, and forging ahead on your path.
This belief can be easy to say to ourselves. Yet more of a challenge to implement in our daily journey. Especially with so many platforms on social media available to compare ourselves to constantly. As well for us to be made privy to the comparison. As well, an often harsh criticism of who we are, what we do, and our ideas.
SELF-TALK!
I know when I first started hearing that phraseology I was like….wait what!?!
It is defined as ….the act or practice of talking to oneself, either aloud or silently and mentally.
What it turns on is whether that self-talk, the talk that we say to ourselves silently - is positive, or negative.
HOW TO BE AN INTROVERTED EXTROVERT
With 2021 ending and 2022 fast approaching, it is time for everyone to do self-reflection, New Years resolutions, and looking back in the past year and different challenges and lessons learned. Going into 2022, we still see the rise of COVID-19, and another eminent lockdown, and most people are terrified about the thought of self-isolation and the loneliness that comes from it. Personally as someone who is naturally quite extroverted, I have seen the benefits of living a more introverted lifestyle and weighing the pros and cons.
DESIGNER SPOTLIGHT: YOGAWORKS
Everyone knows Yogaworks! … but what if I tell you that you can have it at home!!!!

I know that every experience teaches us lessons. COVID19 taught us all the importance of our health; the need to take care of ourselves.
