QUICK TRIPS = MENTAL RESETS
I’m a firm believer that quick trips will do a total reset for our mental health. These quick trips don’t have to be extravagant and you don’t even need to travel. You can make your current environment a mini spa, do a staycation, or if you like travel. How you totally reset mentally within a couple days is the most important. My example I’ll be discussing is my recent quick trip to Paris.
I’ve always loved traveling but more importantly I always love taking a couple days to totally disconnect to reconnect with myself and to focus on what I’m grateful for and to just get mentally fit to continue with work and to be creative and inventive.
With the Pandemic I loved doing these disconnects at home which entailed putting my phone away, ordering candles and cozy pajamas from Amazon and then spending the 2 days doing things I LOVED. I was with my own thoughts and doing things I loved like binging a tv series or crocheting or anything else. Doing these simple tasks just gave me a mental refresh that made me feel more fortified and help not get burnt out.
Then as the Pandemic started to ease up I would do staycations and go to my favorite hotel not even an hour away from where I lived. Did nothing more but not make the bed, read and binge watching. I felt like I had come back from a 2 week long getaway when all I did was spend 2 days reconnecting and doing the things I love.
My recent trip was Paris. I wanted to go back to one of my favorite cities and just get a mini breather and enjoy the holiday magic. Previous trips to Paris I did all the touristy stuff like the lock bridge - yes I made it right before they removed the locks - and explore the city etc. This trip, because I’m a creature of habit. I chose to go to my favorite restaurants, a little bit of shopping, gorging on room service and binge watching.
For me it was the energy in the air of Paris this time of the year that brings me so much gratitude, I never overpack- a carry on- and just enjoying what I want to do and feeling reconnected and inspired. So here are my tips how to feel this reconnected in a couple days.
Tips….
Figure out what gives you joy. Then whether you’re at home, staycation or travel focus on those activities
Pack black blazer, black jeans, gray or black top and cozy pjs and sweats. Accessories can be your color
Don’t worry about being by yourself. That’s the magic and also scary aspect of this. It forces yourself to own your thoughts- good and bad. You breathe into it and do activities that remind you how much you love yourself.
Try to add one new activity you’ve always wanted to do/ try but not yet love. This allows you to find more about yourself.
Now next the fun!
These quick trips can be done on the weekend and as often as you like. Whenever you need a boost of confidence or just need a breather do this and you will feel reinvigorated.
