FINANCE SPOTLIGHT: START SAVING
I get it’s the last thing anyone wants to hear or think is…that they need, or should be saving. More so during a recession. Our mindset is that we literally need every dollar to meet the higher prices for our daily needs.
Honestly, you can still save something. When I was in 6th, or 7th grade I realized the joy I would get from getting coins and putting them in my Hello Kitty safe. Yes, coins! … and take my word the coins add up.
I would empty my parents change from their wallets, or pockets from the day. When I would see change lying around I would ask, and then Hello Kitty the change. Even when I would see any change on the ground I would pick it up and Hello Kitty bank it.
I would get therapeutic Joy from rolling my loose coins when my Hello Kitty safe was full. When the coins are saved they really add up so fast.
Tips To Save….
◦ Set your mind that you will save change. And put the change into a designated spot - albeit your bank, a glass Mason Jar, or a gallon size Ziploc bag.
◦ Get an agreement from others that you can have their change.
◦ Whenever, and wherever you see change pick it up from the ground and save it to deposit in your safe.
◦ Really important. Unless you are depositing change into your safe, forget that you are saving money in the safe. Your safe exists only to put money into it.
◦ Once your bank, or safe is to capacity, then you can roll the money and deposit into a savings account. Or place the rolled money in a safe place and continue saving.
Trust me it can be done because this is a practice that I still do to this day. So now it’s a wonderful habit.
You will be so proud of yourself and your accomplishments…
