If you are not familiar with it, celebrity roasts have been a thing since the 70s with the late great Dean Martin hosting celebrity roasts. Since I was young, I have always loved stand up comedy and the Comedy Central Roasts that had comedians such as Jeff Ross and Greg Giraldo relentlessly roasting the celebrity guest. I was very surprised when I saw that Netflix had a live streamed roast of the Patriots’ quarterback Tom Brady.

This 3 hour comedy special hosted by Kevin Hart was a very much needed comedic escape from the very sensitive times we live in. From acts of violence and the world being on the brink of a world war, we needed a completely unfiltered no holds bar comedy special.

I personally have been a fan of Kevin Hart since he had his 30 minute comedy special on Comedy Central. I think he was a great host, with his great timing, and very captivating story telling, and he kept me engaged between the people roasting.

The biggest highlights for me was Nikki Glaser, Sam Jay, and Tony Hinchcliffe, all of them bringing their own style and brand of a barrage of insults. Some rather controversial things that happened during the roast were the jokes about Tom Brady’s divorce from the Gisele Bündchen, and having Kim Kardashian as a guest speaker at the roast, where she was booed upon approaching the stage. All in all, it was an incredibly entertaining comedy special, and I recommend it.
