FOOD SPOTLIGHT: ICED MATCHA ESPRESSO

If you’ve been apart of this community for a minute, you’ll know that my obsession with coffee is no joke! The blacker and more robust the better. Add on my new love of Asian beauty hacks, cue the matcha! In my research I know matcha is great for skin health and overall health BUT I don’t like milk nor can I ever imagine to not have coIfee in my menu. I discovered that Starbucks has create an Iced Matcha Espresso Fusion but of course ONLY available in the Asian markets. I have managed to recreate this perfect dream of a drink.

It is also SUPER easy. The best part of this recipe is you can adjust it to make it however you like it! More espresso or more matcha at the bottom. The one item of this simple recipe that is non-negotiable is yhor espresso must be strong! I prefer my espresso machine because it also has the milk brother.

Ingredients

1 tsp Matcha Powder

1/3 Cup Warm Water

1 Cup Ice (divided into thirds)

1/3 Cup Oat Milk (you can use whatever milk you like)

1-2 Shots Espresso

Hazelnut Syrup (optional)

The Method

  1. Add Matcha Powder to 1/3 cup warm water. Mix thoroughly with a spoon or milk frother. Add matcha mixture to the bottom of a cup. Add 1/3 cup ice.

  2. Slowly pour the milk over the top of the ice. Add 1/3 cup ice.

  3. Slowly pour the espresso over the top of the ice.

  4. Add hazelnut syrup or a sweetener of yhor choice
