How would you introduce yourself to someone that is unaware of you…
That is an interesting question, I have never been asked that question … I would want someone to say about me is this person’s voice is very calming and beautiful. It makes me feel at peace. I have been told that a lot of people have used my voice, music as therapy.
Why did you start doing Covers, I know that you have original songs. How did you start there, is there a reason? Or do you just like singing and it just kind of flows…
To be transparent at first, I did not want to do Covers. The reason was primarily ego. I wanted people to know me as - I am a singer song writer, and I do my own stuff.
When you are an independent artist, you do not have a machine behind you. I like to be successful at anything that I set my mind to do.
However, for me to break that threshold I needed to do something that was familiar to people. Yes, because you have received a lot of streams from Covers.
I approach Covers in such an original way… that people think that they are my songs. Where the song sounds fresh, and then hopefully they stumble upon my music from there.
You did the official video for ‘Missing You’, congratulations. What should people expect, and what are you most excited for people to see about that video?
I think ‘Missing You’ is a brilliant song. I did the visual for the song, and I am proud.
Are you proud to be headlining Top Shelf Music Bash, July 11-15 in Tulum Mexico … and how did the opportunity come about?
I am very proud and excited to be headlining this event. Sir Darius reached out to me and said that he has followed me for years and is a fan of my music. Then said that he would like for me to be a part of this experience.
I immediately checked it out, and thought it was a vibe and something that I would like to do. So, I put him in contact with my team and we were able to make it happen.
I am super excited to be considered in a line-up like this … I am a big fan of Eric Bellinger, and Sevyn Streeter.
Recently I was inspired what Sevyn wrote for other artists. I am a little younger than them, so to be a part of this mix… I am very honored.
Have you been Tulum before? Are you going to change your set-up… and what can people expect from you?
People can expect what they see online., but the real in- person presence of me. I take pride when people see and hear me in person, because I can make that human connection with people.
What is your favorite way to unwind…
My favorite way to unwind is to be around my family. I have a house with my siblings and we work and grow together.
So, it is a beautiful time for us. It is a constant mirror of who you are.
