JORDAN AIR 3 CEMENT

March 1985 changed the world of sneakers forever with the release of the Jordan 1. Since then there has been a frenzy of people trying to get their hands on them. The staying power of the Jordans has something that has become a sneaker phenomenon, with still at over 30 years later, the shoes still sellout, and have a billion dollar reselling culture.

I am not going to feign being a sport fan, or even watching Michael Jordan regularly when growing up, but I do admit the reason for my love affair with Jordan is due to the timeless cool factor and comfort. My first introduction to Jordan’s was when I was in middle school, and this article of GQ Magazine has Kid Cudi modeling, and he was wearing a high top sneaker I have never seen before. It was black, with odd looking grey cracked sides, and a white sole; The “Jordan Black Cement 3” I was mesmerized by these shoes as a kid, and for a kid who was not into clothing or anything of the sort, I ran to my parents to show them, and they had the most blank look on their face. For a young kid growing up fencing, and taking clarinet classes, this was a very different aesthetic they didn’t know what to make of. Especially with the notorious issues the Jordan brand sneakers have had in California and the East Coast, where youths were injured or killed for their sneakers. Knowing this I put this to back of my mind and always had a want for these sneakers.

Fast forward many years, I was starting to get back into sneakers, and my friends are teaching me how to sign up for drops and raffles. I was getting sneakers that were hyped but not what I really liked until 2018 came along, and the OG Jordan Black Cement 3 dropped, and I wasn’t able to get it, even with contacting friends who worked at sneaker stores who weren't even able to get their hands on it.

June 2022, a friend of mine told me of a place called Daily MIA that is known for their large inventory of sneakers but they’re quick selling. Admittedly, when I should have been working, I saw a pair of the aforementioned Jordan Black Cement 3, the sneaker that started my love affair with all sneakers, in my size. Due to the higher price tag due to it being resell, but not nearly as expensive as I have seen them, I jumped on them after consulting with my friend, who is a huge sneaker head and hype beast as well. Once receiving them, I was more than happy with my purchase, and to be honest it was well worth the patience.
