HOLIDAY PARTY OUTFIT- MEN

With the holiday season in full swing, that means holiday and work parties. Due to the colder weather, it is time for you to start layering. I have always loved Fall/Winter style do to the multitude of textures and layering you can do to keep you warm as well as stylish. While some people reach for their hoodies and sweatpants, I am going to show you a more sartorial take on cold weather fashion for any formal or holiday events.

Casual:

For a more causal event, many people try to find an ugly Christmas sweater. I personally have never owned one and I do not knock people who have given in to this passé “ironic” tradition (my dad & sister love ugly Christmas sweater), but I have a good alternative. A good alternative to that sweater is a classic Fair Isle sweater. This ornate sweater can be worn with a nice straight leg jean (Levi’s 501) or a nice selvedge raw denim.

For a more loungey outfit, that I have fallen love with is what I have pictured. I am wearing an oversized cardigan from Old Navy (oversized because I sized up).

The Uniqlo AIRism T-Shirt, which come in a multitude in colors, but the oversized and shorter length is great as a layering piece or just as is.

A pair of chinos that are more of a classic fit, mine are an older pair of chinos from The Armoury.

For the shoes I am suggest a suede Boston clog sandal. These sandals are oddly versatile, can be worn any time of the year.
I wear them with the chunky slub socks by Birkenstocks.

Formal:

For a more formal look, I really love breaking out the woolen flannel suits, or even heavy tweed/wool sport coats. My tip when going more the sartorial route, make sure to keep the proportions classic. The overtly slim silhouette that are tapered and look like capris is something that I keep seeing even going into 2024. Especially when dealing with heavier textured fabrics, having it very slim can be very uncomfortable because of the tighter weave. My go to look is a grey double breasted flannel suit, with a nice dark colored turtleneck, and some nice suede loafers of oxfords. It’s comfortable, stylish, and a modern take on the classic grey flannel suit.

The holidays are a great time to show off your style and individuality. Since it is more of a relaxed season with both work and personal lives, it is a great time push the boundaries and comfort zone of what you usually wear.
