STYLE SPOTLIGHT: LOUIS VUITTON X YAYOI KUSAMA COLLABORATION

If you know me then you know I love fashion! Not in the way a lot of people think. I’m all about ‘Timeless Uniform Dressing’ but with a pop of color and panache, I’m a Latina after all. So when Louis Vuitton announced the 2nd collaboration with Japanese Artist Yahoo Kusama. I was so excited as I was in love with the 2012 collection. I flew to Paris in January 2023 to purchase my bag and I wasn’t 100% sure how the colorful dots would fit into my monochrome outfits. It not only fit it gave my outfits LIFE! Read on to find out how!

I know that I have mentioned it once before … but it is worth repeating. Knowing Yhorself is the best luxury and freedom you can have. It truly helps with regards to yhor wallet as well. What I mean is that when you know yhorself yhor not swayed into buying EVERYTHING ‘in season’ but selecting items that add to yhor ‘Timeless Uniform Dressing.’ I’m a HUGE Louis Vuitton fan and my love affair truly was inherited from my family. My great-grandmother had the trunk luggage and I like to say each generation got better.

More importantly for me and why I love Louis Vuitton is because the luxury French Label has always allowed ethnic people to not only buy their products but see themselves in the fashion shows or ads (yes I’m aware representation still has a long way to go but this House has never had a problem with ethnic people purchasing the items).

Now back to the fun stuff! As I mentioned earlier this is Yayoi Kusama’s 2nd collaboration with Louis Vuitton. In 2012 I picked up the canvas black tote with black and yellow polka dot handles. In my opinion conservative with a pop of muted color. Now fast forward to the beginning of the year- January 2023. It’s my favorite time to go to Paris because it’s right before Haute Couture yet calmer because the Christmas frenzy has died down. I was so excited to get my hands on the new collaboration. I purchased the Onthego PM because I’m currently in a strutted tote phase. I loved the brightness of the bag BUT it’s so out-of-character for me to purchase monogram and with so much color lol (I’m a fan of Epi leather and Marina because it’s more muted).

Now you’re probably wondering why I’m waiting almost a year to give my review. Well because I wanted to truly see if I loved it or if it was a nostalgic purchase that I was happy about but would rarely use.

I can happily say I suprised myself! I wear the bag with literally EVERYTHING.

I really love this bag because I can wear it like a crossbody or like a tote. I originally thought it would be too ostentatious for my usual casual outfit but it’s just the pop of happy that I need. It’s truly fun! Which I think it’s so nice when our accessories put a smile on our face.
