REVIEW- AMA DABLAM-THE REBIRTH

Finally! A documentary with a purpose! To say I was beyond excited to review Moe Al Thani’s newest documentary would be an understatement. As I waited patiently for the link to ‘Ama Dablam-The Rebirth’ to hit my inbox I was thinking what does this film have in store. The title sounded ominous yet uplifting and Moe had already completed his 7 summits journey, so what new story would he be telling!? Watching this documentary reinforced why Moe Al Thani is truly an amazing human being with a pure heart, intentional and a bright light to the people he holds dear.

His last two films— ‘SEAL OF APPROVAL’ & ‘THE SEVENTH SUMMIT’ —had me on the edge of my seat, tearing up, and feeling like I accomplished something by watching Moe’s achievement; while deep down knowing I wouldn’t even make it to base camp.

Moe’s newest film has a twist! In ‘Ama Dablam- The Rebirth’, we see Moe’s heart, compassion, and sheer determination. Moe follows up on the Sherpa community that has been his extended family for many years and the impact Covid has had on their lives. While the audience also follows Moe on his most challenging climb without his best friends.

This expertly crafted duality of the Sherpa’s everyday life mixed with the stomach churning journey of Moe reaching the peak of Ama Dablam will have you crying and wanting to take action.

Luckily you can! With this link, we are all able to help a community that has supported so many and thrived in the darkest times. Even if you want to be cynical or act like helping a community isn’t your burden, as Moe so eloquently wrote, “we are all one community.”
