INTRODUCTION

What is something that not many people know about you –

Maybe that I was a football player in Mexico. I played quarterback for the Silverwolves…maybe not many people know about that.

You have an amazing career that has spanned decades. Can you describe how you started your career, and how you have selected the projects -

I started doing experimental theatre, plays, and after that I went professional. I started as an extra then I did bit parts until I became a lead actor.

You won an Emmy in 1993 for Guadalupe. Can you please take us through the process of preparing for this role and the feeling of when you knew that you won the Emmy…

Well, Guadalupe was so significant for me. So I left Mexico to go to Miami to work on the Telenovela., Guadalupe.  How I prepared – Alfredo Robinson, being a lawyer, and being married. I did a lot of search into that profession (legal). Wining an Emmy was amazing…my first experience wining an award out of my country, that was amazing – just amazing. I was the first Latin actor wining an award, an Emmy Award.

You worked on Falsa Identidad as Don Mateo Corona. How did you prepare for this role, and what did you enjoy most about being a part of this series…

He was such a difficult character being a psychopath. The research I did was enormous. I visited mental hospitals, places where they treat psychopaths, sociopaths, and schizophrenics. So I spent some time with those guys, and it was a mixture of being close to people that suffer from those mental disorders. I got a good experience in playing the character, it has been awesome – the audience welcomed the character so much.

What drives you –

What drives me, well… thirst and hunger is what drives me. Yes!

MOTIVATION

What is your favorite activity, other than acting that you enjoy, and why -

My favorite activity that soothes me is exercise. When you are done with the workout, all of your body, brain – everything comes together. You can then focus on anything else that you want to do. That gives me a lot of pleasure. Exercising is just relaxing, it gives me pure creativity for my work.

QUOTE

What are your thoughts on 2020, and what was the biggest lesson you learned from this unprecedented year…

Well, it has been a difficult year, 2020. But what I learned…ahahah, well it is about the COVID pandemic, obviously. But, you have to take better care of yourself, eat better – we typically do not take that into consideration, unless you are getting into shape for a role. In reality it is something you need to do to be strong, physically and mentally. And to be able to fight against this type of pandemic.

The last and most fun question…what is your favorite way to unwind and get a boost –

Acting – acting does that for me, it is my best way to unwind, and it boots me. To be able to create a character to be able to be on set and develop, and to just deliver.
