I had the pleausre to interview the Eyebrow King himself! He has worked with EVERYONE - Oprah, Diana Ross, Beyonce, Rihanna just to name a few. Even though his client list features the epitome of Hollywood, Damone explains how he thrives to bring out the Queens in every client that will grace his new salon.

Damone is about to reopen his (currently shuttered) salon at a new location - 8383 Wilshire Blvd., Suite 50, Salon 206, Beverly Hills, (310) 271-2100, and his brow pencils, powders, gels and tools are available online -   damoneroberts.com

How would you explain The Damone Roberts Brow artistry?

Damone Roberts Brow Artistry is accentuating the single most important, underestimated feature on the face for you individually,  based on your facial features. We don’t do stencils!

What is the intention you set with each brow transformation you do?

My intention is always to bring out the best version of you. Our Company slogan is “because every face deserves the perfect frame” & my brand has always focused on delivering your personal perfect frame.

What is the best advice that you have been given in your career?

Don’t let life define you, you define your life.

Is there a method to assess the individuality of your guests?

I have my guest lay down in a reclining chair, and I’m seated behind them, so I end up having a birds eye view of their face to determine the best shape. Round faces require higher arches, square faces require rounder arches, long faces require straight brows. There really is a method to my madness.

What was your dream/ intention when you embarked on your journey in the beauty industry?

Truthfully I never dreamed about a life in beauty. I’ve always been a natural artist & ended up studying visual arts in College. Once the makeup artist didn’t show up for the school play and they asked if I could help, and I realized that painting a face is the exact same as painting a canvas, and you always start with the brows. The journey has been incredible. Who would think one can become a question in the board game Trivial Pursuit, or the game show Jeopardy by doing eyebrows? I truly marvel at the blessings my natural gifts have bestowed upon me.

Do you think in creating your guests individuality, their beauty, from their brows is how you create The Princessss in your guest?

I always say the real secret to my success is being like a therapist. I really like to encourage people, and i actually listen. Listening is a lost art. Most people just want to be heard. I coined the phrase “Beauty Therapist” because ultimately my goal is not just to make them look incredible, but also to make them see it, live it and most importantly believe it.

Can you explain what part “a sense of wellness” plays in your guests feeling like Princesses?

Faith in a higher power. We are spiritual beings, living a human experience. Some will try to break you, but if you are grounded in your spirit... no weapon formed against you shall prosper

From personal experience (my first appointment was at 17) you are a true mixologist! How do you create and perfect the perfect shade?

Thank you. That’s the secret sauce right there. You have to be a mixologist. You can’t give everyone the exact same thing. You “listen” and go from there. Its not a one size fits all. Sometimes you need to adjust the controls to get the balance right. I created my own line of brow accoutrements because everyone had the exact same shade for all black women, all blonde women, etc. My line addresses all issues with all women.

Tell us about The Damone Roberts Beauty Therapy Lounge?

After running Damone Roberts Beverly Hills for almost 20 years, and 10 years simultaneously in New York. I made the decision to downsize and open “Damone Roberts... Beauty Therapy Lounge” to give my clients a more intimate experience, while also allowing me the freedom to expand my product line, and pursue other interest like possibly doing another TV Series (spent three seasons on TLC’s 10 Years Younger). The industry has changed tremendously in the last 20 years. People want a more intimate experience and I believe in giving my clients what they want.

What is meant by a “Customer Oriented Salon”?

Customer Oriented Salon means it’s about the customer and no one else during their appointment. Your not gonna be surrounded by signatures of celebrities like Oprah Winfrey, Rihanna and Beyonce like my old salons, or TV press clips playing on the walls. This experience will be all about you.

How do you intend for your customer’s to leave the Beauty Therapy Lounge Feeling?

I want my clients to leave my new establishment with their chins up and shoulders back, not only because you look fantastic, but also because you feel recharged. You laid down to relax as you got “damonified”, listened to some good music, enjoyed the scented candles, and maybe even had a sip, or two of Champagne.

What does a morning with Damone Roberts look like (before arriving at The Damone Roberts Beauty Therapy Lounge)?

I try to commit to 5 days weekly to work out, and if it does not happen before work, it’s not gonna happen. I check my emails and social as that cup of coffee slowly, but surely goes through my system and I make time to be still in meditation and prayer before I leave my home.

Working with such iconic Celebrities, how do you approach working with them? And how are they Damonified?

Celebrities have definitely helped build up my name in the industry as their presence has created press. I truly treat them the same as anyone else that sits in my chair. They all are paying the same price and I tell my staff that everyone that walks through our door is a Star and deserves to be treated as one. I’ve literally worked on everyone and that’s not an exaggeration. The only two times I’ve ever gotten nervous in my career is the first time I did Madonna, and meeting Diana Ross backstage in her dressing room at Radio City Music Hall and seeing my Damone Roberts products sitting on her Vanity.
