CYNTHIA KLITBO-ACTRESS
I had the immense pleasure to interview Cynthia Klitbo- legendary Actress. I was so excited to find out about her new sitcom! Enjoy!
How would you introduce yourself to people who are unaware of you?
I would introduce myself as Cynthia Klitbo, an international actress of TV soaps in the Latin market, who has worked in more than 30 TV soaps along my career that have been translated into many languages, and transmitted all around the world. I also would introduce myself as a theatre actress, who has represented my country in different festivals, as much as in commercial theatre. I also work as a producer, director and as a television host in many programs along my 40 years of trajectory. I have worked as well in the cinema market, and I just started working on platforms.
What is one of your passions, besides acting, that you enjoy and helps keep you calm?
It would definitely be traveling! It is definitely one of the things that have helped me carry on. I adore getting to know a country by its gastronomy, history, art, culture, dances, festivities, language, slangs, and much more. I consider myself a very curious person. I love to explore, especially the most inhospitable places. I've been in the amazon jungle, and most recently I did trekking in the 5th tallest mountain in Peru, conquering a landscape with my eyes is what relaxes me the most, just like going out to the sea.
You’ve been in this industry since the mid-80s. Please describe how you started and was acting always your intended career path?
Yes, although there were things I would have enjoyed doing, such as: archaeology, hair styling or marine biology. What definitely accompanied me since I was 4 years old, was acting, to realize myself as an actress was always my wish. In fact my career started as a contemporary dancer, I studied in Bellas Artes, in the national dance school, there I started with other classes like theatre, choreography, corporal expression, music and others. This is where I fell in love with acting. When I was 13 I made my first television show.
In an industry where youth and attractiveness is currency, was there ever a time where it was more challenging to book roles? If not why?
I believe there are characters for all types of people. There are those who become great stars because of their appearance, and others because of their amazing talent. I think it depends on who the story requires.
I LOVED you in El Dragón! How did you prepare for the role and what did you enjoy most?
As an actress it’s always important to know the script, and immerse yourself in the character. Sometimes I enjoy dressing as I imagine the character, play with it, and I think actors should always be connected with their inner child. An actor should always have the imagination of a child, who does not have shame of playing with their imagination, and letting themselves fly and get lost in the character. This is what made me love acting, the fact that I can be whoever I want, live in the most beautiful parts of the world, and have dangerous adventures. Day by day I can be a princess, a witch, a cowboy, and the rest relies on the director. And what I adored most was feeling as a powerful woman hahaha.
Please tell us the new project you are working on! What are you most excited about?
I am starring in a sitcom, which is called Junta de Vecinos (neighbor’s meeting). What I most enjoy, besides my job, is the marvelous people I work with. And of course discovering Peru, and it’s beautiful and lovely people.
What are your favorite face and hair products? and why?
Sunscreen, a good cream (anti-age), and at this point a moisturizing hair mask, Hahaha.
What are the lessons from 2020 you hope to carry over into 2021? What is your main goal for 2021?
My lesson is that material things are useless, health is the most important, just as much as the family and friends. I learned to accept that I am fragile and to stand up to reinvent myself. My goal for 2021 is finishing my monologue, which I'm working on right now, and keep working around the world.
The last and most fun question! What is your favorite way to pamper yourself and get a boost?
I love bohemia, sharing my ideas with my other artist friends. Good music, meals, and a fine glass of wine.
