CHRISSY-R&B SINGER

I had the immense pleasure to interview Chrissy. This bubbly, energetic and incredibly humble singer spilled on what drives her, what to expect from her recent album, and of course a little girl chat. Enjoy!

Hi Chrissy! How are you...Hi! I’m good, how are you?...Good! Before we dive in. I’ve been dying to ask, what nude lipstick do you wear in your pics...Hahahah ooh, I just use Vaseline...SHUT UP!...AHAHHA...No seriously. Is it the Creme Burlee Vaseline, because I have that and my lips don’t get that shine...Hahah it was just (regular) Vaseline...Haha well good to know! I’ll need to get the strawberry Vaseline so I have a little more rouge action going on ahaha...HAHAHHAAH...

How would you introduce yourself to people who are unaware of you

I would just say I’m Chrissy. I’m silly and goofy - because actually a lot of people who look at my Instagram kind of make judgements off of my Instagram but I’m pretty chill and cool. I also like to sing.

Your single ‘Relax’ is awesome! What was the process in writing this song and how did you find the inspiration

The process was pretty cool. I worked with a producer named T-Black and his company God Made Productions. He actually co-wrote and produced the beats for this song. It was easy because my husband, is a hard-working man. When he comes home from work I just want him to Relax because he is taking care of our family. The song is dedicated to my husband, and my husband inspires me.

Official Video to Relax by Chrissy from the forthcoming album "Taken" available October 16, 2020

Your album comes out October 16th! Congrats! Can you tell me what your fans can expect from this album - feelings, happy etc

It’s in your feelings, happy, and love. It’s just about love, like a Buddha album haha.  Ahaha so very namaste and drink some wine vibes. Ahaha yes! It’s pretty chill, drink some wine, and dance to it kind of album.

You are incredibly talented. An actress, singer, entrepreneur. How do you find time to be successful in each area

Hmm, I don’t know. Maybe because I was born into this industry. My dad is Chris Stokes and I’ve watched him do it. So it’s like second nature. I don’t try to be good in each area but what I do comes naturally to me.

You started a makeup YouTube Channel with your best friend Miya. How does your YouTube channel differ from others

So I have my YouTube Channel with Miya and I am about to start releasing content on my own YouTube Channel, I AM Chrissy. I’m also doing a family channel called Chrissy & Gio, with my husband and baby. The YouTube Channel with Miya is different than others because we are being so unapologetically us; hoping that everyone accepts that... haha. I AM Chrissy Channel will be more behind the scenes of everything: music videos, the studio, and makeup. There’s no content up yet, but very soon content will be up.

How do you and your husband balance each other, since you both are entrepreneurial

Ooooh, okay. The balance is because our personalities compliment each other. My husband owns his own business and I’m doing my music so sometimes it can be hard but we always figure it out at the end of the day.

What drives you

My family is the number one thing that drives me.

How do you feel when people diminish your accomplishments because they perceive you to be just a pretty face... Do you challenge this perception, if so how

That’s actually one of the reasons I’m starting my own YouTube Channel, I AM Chrissy, just so people can get to know me more, and see I’m a real person. When people just see my Instagram they don’t see who I really am, they only see the 1-2 times a week I wear makeup because most of the time I don’t wear any make-up. The YouTube Channel is great so people see my personality and what I’m about.

I know I’m not a bad person and if people drop their little hatorade comments, it’s just like oh well.

What are your thoughts on the current BLM (Black Lives Matter) movement

I feel like at the end of the day, every single life is precious and matters. It hurts me to see brutality going on because I don’t support any type of violence. My prayers go out to anyone that lost family members to Police brutality. It’s just sad, and there is just a lot of negative going on in the world.

The last and most fun question! what is your favorite way to pamper yourself and get a boost

I like to get my nails (mani & pedi) and my eyebrows done!
